BayouVoices is a community website initially developed by the photography students of Yates High School under the supervision of photography teacher Ray Carrington and Third Ward resident along with homeschool student Breanna Cotton under the supervision of Carroll Parrott Blue, University of Houston.  Much of this work was carried out as part of the Third Ward Sustainability Project, the Southeast Houston Arts Initiative, and the Yates High School CAMERA Project.

This site continues through the efforts of the people of Greater Southeast Houston, Houston’s Third Ward, and the city beyond as a collaboration that includes the Southeast Transformation Alliance (SEHTA) and the OST/South Union GO Neighborhood initiative.

These projects provide outreach to the community through participation and programs in community meetings, workshops, listening sessions, performances, planning studies, and publications.

Original funding for BayouVoices was provided by Houston Endowment, National Endowment for the Arts, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency with additional support from the University of Houston, Houston Advanced Research Center, and the Dawn Project.
